Decepticons

18 CHARACTERS
01

THE CONQUEROR

Megatron

Megatron is a ruthless conqueror who seeks to control every planet he touches. Armed with a powerful fusion cannon, he leads the Decepticons through intimidation, military strength, and relentless ambition. In classic G1, he transforms into a handgun and wages war against his great Autobot rival, Optimus Prime. Starscream repeatedly schemes to replace him, while Soundwave remains a trusted operative. In this fan guide, Megatron wants the Matrix of Leadership and considers Unicron his mortal enemy. In the 1986 movie, his battle with Optimus leaves him gravely wounded; Starscream casts him into space, where Unicron rebuilds him as Galvatron.

02

DECEPTICON CO-LEADER

Galvatron

Galvatron leads alongside Megatron in this fan guide. In the original G1 movie, however, he is Megatron reborn: after Starscream abandons the wounded leader in space, Unicron gives him a powerful new body and orders him to destroy the Matrix of Leadership. Transforming into a futuristic cannon, Galvatron returns to Cybertron and destroys Starscream during his coronation. He resents being controlled by Unicron and tries to turn the captured Matrix against him, but cannot open it. When Unicron attacks Cybertron, Galvatron fires on him and is swallowed. Inside Unicron, he briefly proposes an alliance with Hot Rod before Unicron forces him back into battle. Hot Rod becomes Rodimus Prime and uses the Matrix to destroy Unicron.

03

AIR COMMANDER & WOULD-BE LEADER

Starscream

Starscream is the Decepticon air commander, transforming into a red, gray, and blue F-15 fighter jet. Fast, skilled, and armed with null-rays that disrupt electrical systems, he favors speed and cunning over brute force. But his greatest ambition is to overthrow Megatron. He constantly challenges his leader, plots betrayals, and seizes any sign of weakness as a chance to take command. His arrogance often ruins his plans. In the 1986 movie, he throws the badly wounded Megatron into space and crowns himself leader. His triumph ends when Megatron returns as Galvatron and destroys him. Even then, Starscream returns as a ghost in the G1 cartoon, still scheming for power.

04

LEADER OF THE SWEEPS

Scourge

In the 1986 G1 movie, Scourge is created from Thundercracker after the wounded Decepticon is cast into space with Megatron and the others. Unicron rebuilds him into a fearsome tracker and gives him command of the Sweeps, a pack of similar-looking hunters. Scourge transforms into a blue-and-white futuristic flying craft and serves Galvatron on the mission to hunt the Autobots and destroy the Matrix of Leadership for Unicron. He fights as part of Unicron’s new Decepticon force; Galvatron is the one who directly rebels against their creator. After Unicron’s destruction, Scourge survives and continues serving Galvatron alongside Cyclonus.

05

AERIAL WARRIOR

Ramjet

Ramjet is an aggressive, reckless Decepticon aerial warrior who transforms into a mostly white fighter jet with red wings and black details. One of the Coneheads alongside Dirge and Thrust, he prefers smashing opponents to careful planning. His reinforced nose lets him ram targets at tremendous speed, making mid-air collisions his specialty. But repeated crashes can damage his own internal machinery. His motto: “If it flies, crash it!”

06

AERIAL WARRIOR

Thrust

Thrust is a loud, boastful Decepticon warrior who transforms into a dark red fighter jet with distinctive wing-mounted fans. One of the Coneheads alongside Ramjet and Dirge, he uses his roaring engines to frighten enemies before attacking. Despite his swagger, he is not very brave when opponents stand their ground. His powerful acceleration can topple nearby buildings. He flies at Mach 2.5 and can briefly double that speed, carrying four air-to-air missiles and two automatic missile launchers in robot mode. His motto: “My engines’ roar is my enemies’ song of doom!”

07

MILITARY TRANSPORT / TRIPLE CHANGER

Astrotrain

Astrotrain transforms between a robot, steam locomotive, and space shuttle. He transports Decepticon troops and cargo, using rapid transformations to confuse his enemies.
